Does anyone know who is the most generous lender for residential mortgages?

Was looking at Tesco Bank / Barclays / Nationwide.

    Generous in what way? Affordability is a regulatory requirement for lenders these days. So days of self certified income etc are well gone.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Have a play around with their online calculators. They're fairly accurate, I believe. In our case we found that Nationwide would lend a bit more than some of the others, but that's because they're positive about income from overtime. It depends on your personal circumstances.

    The Post Office affordability calculator was giving some very high numbers for me when I looked at it, to the extent that I didn't entirely trust them!

    Halifax gave me a little house when i was younger to save my pennies in. That was very generous i thought. I did however go into a HSBC branch recently and got a free red and white striped mint!! That was also generous!

    All depends on your personal circumstances. If benefit income is crucial to affordability have a look at Nationwide. Otherwise lending criteria and income multiples vary from lender to lender.
