Getting paid whilst on holiday.. which card/method is best for me?

Hello,

So I'm going to Australia for two weeks in February. I'm going to take £500 worth of Australian Dollars with me which I will exchange before hand. I get paid whilst in Australia so I'm intending on using another £500 whilst I'm out there.

What is the best/cheapest way to use the £500 from my debit card? I've read about prepaid cards but not sure if this applies to me and although I have a excellent credit rating I'm in the process of applying for a 0% balance transfer credit card so applying for another may look bad on my credit score.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Antony

    Revolut

Open with a small amount until you receive the physical card, say £20, then do a test withdrawal at an ATM. If all ok, transfer the remaining £480.
Withdraw at leisure in Oz. When you get paid, transfer the remaining £500. Spend at leisure. No ATM or forex charges.
No one outside of their seventies changes money before they go.

Use it to load your Revolut as needed, then use that for purchases and withdrawals. Take your debit and credit cards with you as backup. Forget about buying relatively expensive cash AUD beforehand.
    Evolution, not revolution
