Is carers allowance means tested?

Morning. Can't see the answer on the gov site so thought I would ask. Our son gets middle rate care dla component at the moment (though we have recently submitted the pip form so who knows if it will continue). At the moment carers allowance isn't claimed because we are both working and earn over the threshold but my oh came home last night and said he had heard redundancies in his company are afoot. If this were the outcome, he wouldn't have any earnings but would have a pot of savings and just wondered if he could claim this benefit. Many thanks.
I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

No it's not means tested so not based on savings, only earnings.

Means-tested is about both income and capital so strictly it is means-tested but not in the way other benefits are. Capital is disregarded but income isn't.If you earn above the theshold (£110p.week)you get nothing, if you earn less you get all (£62 p.week).0
