Last year's turf ruined??
Hi all,
I laid some turf last summer, which looked great for 2-3 months but slowly deteriorated.. I watered it lots when i laid it but only mowed it after 3 weeks, which may be one of the reasons). I subsequently laid a further 50m2 in the same area in October, which is looking brilliant still (mowed it after 10 days).
The original turf looks like a big muddy mess at the moment. I have researched it a bit and raked it a couple of times and stabbed it to oxygenate, which may help it a bit.
Has anyone got any advice on how i can get it to come back nice and thick in the spring? Should i get some seeds and seed it as well? and if so, when?? many thanks

I have had the same problem, I laid turf last November and it was lovely all summer but then has gone all patchy and muddy. I have over seeded the area with good quality grass seed about three weeks ago and it has just started to germinate. Just hoping for no frosts! Good luck.0

Could be leatherjackets. They love new turf.0
