Purpleivy I hope your MIL is doing Ok. I had 5 weeks (25 sessions) of radiotherapy and towards the end I was quite tired, and unfortunately badly burned.

It isn't just the therapy, it also the travelling and having to make yourself ready each day, when sometimes all you want is to slob around in your PJs.

I send my very best wishes to her

Thanks C/light. She isn't showing tiredness yet, nor burning, but she has been given cream and I gave her some lavender/chamomile oil that I was recommended was good for healing.

Her treatment times tend to be over the middle of the day, so I am finding I have to try and be ultra organised to get sorted out in the morning, take some sewing with me (I do garment alterations), make sure there is some lunch ready for my (late) return. I am making home made soup at the moment, enough for a few days and leaving it in the fridge. Then I try and work when I get home. That kind of goes into the evening some days. If I'm lucky DS will cook if he's here, but I need to be organised for him to do that!

Am hoping that DS will do Wed/Thurs/Fri next week, he's away till Monday night and Tuesday MIL has the doctor appointment and she likes me to be there for those. Not a place for a young lad!

Have tried to have a relaxed weekend.

  • It is good to have someone with you, perhaps just to ask something that she may have forgotten.

I have been very lucky because Himself has been with me at every appointment, and this is someone who hates the smell of hospitals and our elder daughter is a nurse :):)

I think the cream I had to use was Acqueus (sp?). Evidently the reason I burned was because my skin is very fair and also I am quite heavy busted. I must say not as much as I used to be, but I burned underneath my bust. I will say the staff in radiology were really kind and I had a dressings nurse who dressed my burns each day towards the end of treatment.

Take care because you will be tired as well

    Afternoon all,

r/r so glad OH seems to have taken on board what you have said. I hope this is the breakthrough you need.

All is well with me. Rushed round like a mad thing this afternoon doing the grocery shopping and came back home and fell asleep for 2 hours! I guess i must have needed it.

Popped into see Mom with a bag of goodies. She was sitting in a wet nightie again. She had spilt her drink all down her. One of the long plastic backed bibs i bought her was out ready to put on her but no one thought to actually put it on her when they gave her a drink.

Will be cooking our evening meal in double quantities tonight so that hubby and 'youngest' will have a meal each to take to work tomorrow and eat tomorrow evening.

Not much else to add really but thats good.

    Have a good evening all.

So, 3 numbers on the lotto was £25! I've already spent it on christmas pressies for the coming year, the sale in DDs shop was too good to miss!

RR - Stay strong. Glad DDs feet are healing. My DD had news yesterday that there may be a job at the store that is staying open, hopefully she will hear tomorrow. Please keep your fingers and toes crossed for her.

The rain in Glasgow has been biblical, along with the great big wet lumps of snow that fell for about an hour. Not too bad here but still wet and cold.

Went for lunch at a Brazillian restaurant, it was ok but nothing sparkling - plenty of sides to help yourself to, mostly cabbage based, and 7 cuts of meat. Quite salty but fairly tasty, the steak was the best but we didn't get much. The funniest part was that one of the cuts of meat was a pork sausage! Wine was cheap and stained DDs teeth and lips black. Glad we didn't pay very much but we had a laugh all the same.

Enjoy Sunday evening, hope you're all warm and dry.

ETA Are you ok Butterfly Brain? Not heard from you for a while.
