O/S Daily Thread Sunday 10th January 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Still dark, wet underfoot with laying water and blustery wind. Forecast for today is blustery and rain again.
Yesterday DH took me to town I visited the bank. Also got DS1 the last couple of bits for his diet plan. Cost a fortune but he's paying me back. We'll be sorting tomorrows food later today, so anything that needs to be defrosted can be etc.
I'm going to get pack ups organised and then it should be a chilled day as we're going out for lunch (my belated birthday treat).
Yesterday saw the new film The Danish Girl, excellent film. Forgotten how much I love the cinema.
I will need to take niece's birthday prezzie and card also, will endeavour to get that done this morning before we go out.
Have peaceful Sundays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Have a great day everyone :jSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning all. Didn't sleep so well last night so have been up a while. Have put the beef brisket in the slow cooker and peeled the potatoes ready for later. Also cooked the bacon so everyone can have breakfast when they get up. Not sure what we will be doing today. Possibly visiting friends but nothing has been confirmed yet.
I've been having a look at Muscle Foods website and wondering whether or not to purchase meat from there. Some of it would work out cheaper than I currently buy but not all of it. Need to think about it some more before purchasing.
Hope everyone has a good day

Good morning, thank you nmic for starting us off.
Cold, wet and windy here this morning. We had torrential rain last evening and then the wind started to gather strength, I don't think it promises to be a good day.
We are off to the blue and yellow shop later, DGD1 wants to spend some of her Christmas money on storage and possibly a new duvet cover. I need a frame fo a lovely print she bought me for Christmas.
Our meal will consist of some of the Christmas beef I froze, which was beautiful, together with roasties, yorkies, mashed potato, broccoli, carrots and peas.
We had our shingles jab this week, with no noticeable side effects thank goodness, I know Csarina had a swollen arm when she had hers.
Not a great deal planned for the coming week. I have an appointment at the breast clinic on Wednesday, hopefully will be discharged after 5 years, fingers crossed. Whilst we are at the hospital we will go for our yearly blood test. We have had the form for ages, but it is awful trying to find a parking space, but my appointment is at 8.50 so it shouldn't be too bad. We will treat ourselves to breakfast after because it is a fasting blood test.
RR I am glad you and DH had a long talk. At least he has recognised he has a problem and is prepared to do something about it, just make sure he doesn't forget.
Hester I read your blog yesterday, it sounds as though your L&M is beginnng to feel a little better, I couldn't think of a nicer way of spending Saturday afternoon
:)
Have a good day all and stay safe

Morning nmlc and all to follow. I just looked out and - OH NO! - it's snowing!! The forecast said sunny intervals - no mention of snow!
I feel much improved on this time yesterday - going straight back on the anti b's must have been a wise move. I was so tired yesterday after my sleepless night that I slept for four hours on the sofa after tea and another five hours when Mr TA woke me up to go to bed! Wide awake by 5.00 but after 4 + 5 hours sleep I must have had my ration!
We got to the NET Foundation natter group as planned and glad we did. There were about 30 people there (last meeting she said only 8 turned up!) and the speaker was really informative. Of course, there were the usual people who liked their voices heard and others who didn't (us!) but they did ask lots of relevant questions so were forgiven! She gave us up to date advice on travel/insurance providers for sufferers of neuroendocrine tumours and Mr TA is getting ideas in his head for the first time since diagnosis almost 3 years ago! Watch this space on that! She also said the number of people getting diagnosed has gone up a lot in recent years. It's far from being the very rare cancer it once was. Whether 'cos early diagnosis is improving or GP's being more aware of many of its vague symptoms, they are not sure. Anyway all in all we are glad we went (even though we are back there again on Thursday for his monthly appt and injection!!)
I left a smallish joint of beef defrosting to roast today. There should be enough on it for today's lunch, with a bit left for tomorrow's dinner too. I've just been prepping the spuds and other veg to go with it. A couple of pieces of hm mincemeat tart defrosting too to have with custard. Mmmm!
Just had a whizz through yesterday's thread as I didn't get back on again. RR so pleased things improving for you. CAMELOT wine can be blamed on triggering the IC but not sure about UTI. When I abstained a while back it didn't seem to make any difference to either. Maybe I'll try again! MM I have tried so many drinks, potions and herbal stuff over time, as well as following loads of hints 'n tips, but not tried gentian violet. Although I have in my mind it's more for fungal infections? But I'll look into it thanks!
Happy Sunday everyone. ((((HUGS))))) where wanted/needed. Be gentle with yourself CSARINA it's still early days. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Hugs to Judi and everyone else in need.
I managed to sleep until 5 this morning, I've emptied & reloaded the DW & WM and folded all the dry washing from the maiden.
I watched Victorian Bakers last night, I enjoyed it but was surprised by how much they struggled without modern tools.
Harpreet was trying to whisk some egg white and I'm sat there shouting 'Put some effort in woman' I was taught to whisk egg white with a knife and it takes elbow grease. Also they found it impossible to lift a 20st (127 kilo)bag of flour between them, yet I could lift and carry a half cwt bag of potatoes (25 kilos) when I was in my 50's and I can still lift 30 kilos of paper today and still carry 15 kilo boxes of paper around my room and to other places in the school & I'm 64 now.
I made a start on a baby jacket in pink & white variegated yarn for a friend who's just had a baby, it should only take a couple of evenings to finish.
We are supposed to be visiting FIL today, heaven knows how he will be or whether he will change his mind.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

I have recorded this and will watch it later as everyone else wanted to watch The Voice instead last night.2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Morning
Have a minute before my day gets busy so thought I would post now. I enjoy reading everyone's news and the support and am going to try to get on more often. WM about to go on as is the kettle, I'm also getting blender out to make smoothies for breakfast. DS rarely eats fruit and I don't want to waste what I have bought, he will drink a smoothie though so think this could be the way forward. I read that you can add oats too which gives them more substance, just the thing for a teenage non stop eating machine! DW will go on after dinner tonight as will be full then, we have a chicken which I will roast with veg for tonight then have lo made into something else tomorrow night. My mum is coming over for dinner and has offered to bring "afters", DS. Loves a trifle so suspect it will be that. Washing will go on airer when it's done as far to wet and windy out and DS uniform can't go in drier. We got some "posh" bread mixes for Christmas so may put bm on later too and have bacon sarnies for lunch. Whilst dinner is cooking I'm going to organise lunches for the week, better than rushing around before work and cheaper than canteen. HH I watched Victorian bakers too and wondered why they struggled so much, realise a lot has to do with health and safety these days. Can hear DS so am going to make a move, will try and pop back later to catch up.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

Morning all!
Still very grey and dark outside here in Essex.
Was woken in the early hours of this morning by the !!!! boy racers doing 360 degree handbrake turns around the roundabout then roaring off up the road to do time trials. They congregate in the local supermarket carpark and have a 'route' around the town which they use as a race-track.
Despite police intervention and issuing 70-odd with tickets, the problem still continues. Instead of 11.00 at night though, they have now started racing at 5.00 a.m.:mad:
DD was at her BF's last night but should be back for dinner later. As per her ski-ing trip, she has requested beef bourginon (sp?:o) for dinner so will get that in the SC in a moment.
Getting fed up not being able to get the washing dry. I may have to give in and take it to the launderette and use their tumble driers:(
Need to clean out the chickens and the rabbit this morning - I've had a bale of straw sitting in the boot of my car for the last week so must get a 'round tuit' today.
Can't miss the Archers omnibus though - that Rob is doing my head in!! Why can't poor Helen see what's going on? Grrrr:mad:

Morning All
Damp and grey this morning, we just had a tiny snow shower yesterday, well more sleet really.
Washing from yesterday in the TD to finish off, left it in the living room last night to dry from the heat of the fire. I changed DDs bed when I was at hers yesterday and brought it back here, there's not much room in her flat for bedding to dry!
Back to DDs today to do more on the shower then we are going to a Brazillian restaurant for a late lunch - I bought a voucher for £15 for 2 courses and a glass of wine, hoping they will give me a soft drink instead as I'm driving and can't drink wine anyway.
I watched the Victorian Bakers too, their lack of fitness took over the programme for me, wanted to shout 'put your back into it!' . Quite interesting though but 1 episode would probably do.
Anyway, I didn't win the lottery jackpot but think I have 3 numbers - do you still get something for that?
RR - hope things improve for you, how are DDs feet?
Have a good Sunday, take care. XX0 -
Loved that first programme of the Victorian Bakers as well - facinating stuff!
Well, last night it was NOT me on the lottery; two winners though sharing the 66 million  blimey with that you could employ Martin Lewis and have him on speed dial to sort your finances :rotfl:
Not allot to do today, just cook Sunday lunch and put the washing away, walk the dogs and sort the horses - peaceful Sunday to you all :beer:Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money
