Wrecked Grass

Hi!
I am mostly successful in growing things - just dont ask what they are!
However, since having a very energetic Springer my grass looks like..................a swamp. Very muddy and scratched/dug/paw printed. With the rain we have been having it never dries out or gets a chance to "rest".
Have others had this issue? I do like a lawn - do you think it will ever grow back properly in the spring?
Should I get some sand to put down on the worst bits?
Any/all advice welcome! Thank you xx

You might find that the bare patches won't grow back, in my experience. I am facing the same issues in the garden that I have just moved into.
My plan is to add a little compost to the patches and sprinkle seed come the spring. I have done it before with success.
Hopefully someone with more experience will help us too.0 -
Depends what sort of a lawn you want.
My chickens can do as much damage as your dog, and in the winter their orchard can turn into a bit of a swamp too, but we are well-drained, so the ground always recovers.
But it's not a 'lawn,' just grass.
Like the chickens, your dog needs to be kept off half of the land while it recovers.0 -
Thank you both. I think my grass has been damaged too much so will have some fun designing a stones/paving/crazy garden for next year!
At least I have nice grass at the front.0
