OP are you sure you're reading the receipt right? The DF website shows the high street price as £26.xx, I too cannot understand why you were charged that much. Have they charged you for a different item? Can you upload the receipt?0

But that link is for MySupermarket- a comparison site showing the current available price. It is not the Tesco site so dosnot show that it is , in fact, a time limited offer. That is shown on the Tesco site.
the price promise web page states time limited offers do not valid.
The World Duty Free Price Promise
We offer you exceptional year-round value across our entire product range and so our promise to you is that if you purchase anything from World Duty Free and then find the identical item cheaper on the UK high street within the next 28 days, we will happily refund the difference.
Overview:
The product must be the same brand, size and in the same packaging as that purchased from World Duty Free.
Price promise applies to UK high street stores only and is not valid on products purchased from online only retailers.
For comparison it must be the product’s everyday price and not part of any promotion, voucher offer or limited time offer.
Proof of your purchase World Duty Free purchase must be provided to make a claim
Refunds will be provided in the form of World Duty Free Group vouchers.0 -
You've missed my point.Price was £18.99 with a secondary price od £23.?? based on the average high street prices.
At time of purchase, I mentioned that the pricing was misleading, and was 100% positive that I could had reserved the item online for the same advertised price.
I was informed of the price-match guarantee, so thought that if this was the case, I would just submit a claim for the difference.
I checked on-line, and indeed, the website allows you reserve the item at the same advertised price - so again airport price misleading.
When I mentioned different prices, I didn't mean the advertised price and the so-called high street price.
I meant:
a price for someone travelling within the EU - i.e. you and
a price for someone travelling to - for eample - Thailand
There's often an offer on say spirits 2 x 1 litre for £x for travelling outside EU but the offer isn't available to travellers within the EU and the price per bottle is much higher.
I take no notice whatsoever of the 'high street price' in airport shops.
I've usually got a good idea of what the prices are in say my local Tesco and also know that they come on offer at times.
I still can't understand why you saw a price of £18 but allowed yourself to be charged £26 - I'm not the only one to have asked that question:.Why didn't you query the price at the time of purchase?I still dont understand how you saw it priced at £18.99 yet paid £26.00 for the bottleI too cannot understand why you were charged that much.
Didn't you check your receipt or your change?
I would be complaing about being overcharged, not chasing them about price-match.0 -
I went on the World Duty Free website last week,
The price had changed from £18.99 to £20.49
I decided to see what price I would be charged, if I reserved the item to pay and collect at the Airport.
I put in the same departure and arrival airports, and was able to reserve the item for pickup at the advertised price (i.e £20.49)
I also contacted Tesco regarding their pricing.
There response was;
"Bacardi Oakheart Spiced Rum sells at £16.50 without the promotion price. This was the price before the offer and it will be the price after. " - the offer was to finish on 8th Dec.
The last 6 months and can confirm that the prices have ranged from £15.00 to £22.00 but the cost of the product will revert back to £18.50 from the 8th of December"
Today, I revisited the store, and it's still £15.00 -
Price ticket mistake - Did they forget to update the price ?
No - I took a bottle to the till, and it scanned at £15.00 !
Have resent the Price Promise Claim form - as the 28 days to claim is due.0 -

Only £15.00Offer

OP
is there a reason why you're not answering this question?I still can't understand why you saw a price of £18 but allowed yourself to be charged £26 - I'm not the only one to have asked that question.I still dont understand how you saw it priced at £18.99 yet paid £26.00 for the bottleI too cannot understand why you were charged that much. A true MSE-er always does that.Didn't you check your receipt or your change?0 -
Looks like Duty free has eventually given in, and will be posting my voucher for the price difference.
"Thank you for submitting your Price Promise claims. Your claim for the Tesco Bacardi Oakheart for £16.50 has been successful and will be posting the vouchers for the price difference of £10.00 to you on Monday."
They didn't respond to my question to why I was charged a different price to what was marked, or to what I could have reserved it for pickup online.
I've learnt my lesson - I will not be shopping in Airport shops again ! (except top spent the voucher)0 -
They didn't respond to my question to why I was charged a different price to what was marked, or to what I could have reserved it for pickup online.
And you haven't responded to the questions asking why you saw the bottle priced at £18.99 yet were willing to hand over £26 at the checkout.0 -

I thought I had in my OP.
"Knowing that there was a price promise, I thought on my return home, I would check out my local supermarket, and submit for the price difference to be provided."
and even the cashier mentioned that there was a price promise, so thought that I wouldn't lose out, other than have a voucher to spent at the airport on a later date.0
