Idea of costs for electric and gas - how much do you pay?

Hi all

Next year we will move from a 2 bed flat that is all electric no gas.

We will move to a 3 bed house that has electric and gas.

I'm working out what our monthly budget will be and am hoping someone that lives in a similar size property will tell me how much they pay for each :o

Thank you

Most comparison sites allow you to enter property data and will estimate consumption for you.

There are so many variables that comparing one property with another isn't really effective. Your best bet would be asking the current owners what they use.

At a guess and with no severe prolonged winter freeze allow about £100 per month for both . Actual cost will depend upon your usage not a comparison with a similar property .£100 PM should be less if you don't waste energy .

Thank you both, £100 a month was what I was thinking.

We are both out all day during the week and when it's really cold I can just put an extra layer or 2 on so hopefully could save a few pounds :)

If they do, it is useless.

£45 a month over summer (for both). £100-£120 a month over winter.

I just hate the idea of paying ~£70 in five years time for another useless piece of paper.

A tenant put in 5 x 100W light bulbs instead of the 60W candle bulbs. Five dark spots appeared in the ceiling. They also "suspected" they were paying £3,000 a year to E.On.

I repainted the ceiling, gave them five energy saving light bulbs.

Worked through their e-statements, and they were only paying £2,000 a year, on standard tariff. Told them to switch to a one year fix when an OK E.On fix came along.

Went to fix a heating problem later, and the 5 x 100W light bulbs were back up, because they were designer pretty, and they couldn't be bothered to switch tariff!

The EPC guy penalised me for not using energy saving light bulbs.

How rich do you have to be to move to Switzerland?
We just do these energy saving faff for show, at least they do it and mean it.

We've been sent the EPC but it's dated October 2007 and when it was done there was no central heating in the house, just electric heaters, they installed gas central heating in 2008

Living in a 3 bed semi only the two of us we pay £610 a year for gas and electric with old gas back boiler .Also have solar panels so this brings it down to £153 for 12 months with what we get back from the feed in tarrif .Will get it below £600 next year using the ichooser community switch to get lower gas and electric costs .I know the solar has nothing to do with what you want to know but a idea maybee for the future.
    Nice to save.

I would put away £100-£120 a month for both assuming you use gas for heating instead of electric otherwise I pay more if its electric. Always monitor your usage at least monthly ideally weekly and submit regularly meter readings
