As I have got more into my DF journey, I have been finding it easier to be a bit more open about my debt. At the start I felt like I was the only one who was in such an awful situation ( 40K debt at start) but I have since learned that several of my friends are also in a similar situation.
Today, I found out that 2 of workmates told me about their debts. One owes 20k on a 15k salary and the other owes 35k on a similar salary to me ( 50K). I would never have thought that either of them would have been in debt!
This debt malarkey really is more common than I thought!

I think you are right. I think many people hide the level of their debt, and borrow more to cover the debt already incurred and keep living to a standard we think we need. At least, that's what I did until my LBM and DMP last year.
I'm still not comfortable talking about my debt in the real world though.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0
