Another way of the Jobcentre to sanction you!

You've posted something that is plainly inaccurate - that's why people have questioned you further.
It is just not credible for a sanction to be made simply because someone failed to answer a phone on their first call - full stop.No_hit_Sherlock wrote: »ludicrous, I suppose you believe elvis is alive as well
He is - he works down our chip shop!

If that is the case then I will not provide my mobile phone number to the Jobcentre or put it on my CV. My excuse...a mobile phone is too expensive and having a landline is also too expensive.
I do have a free voice mail number which I can provide to the DWP or an employer (one which I don't really want the job but forced to apply for). I get an email on my laptop/tablet whenever I get a voice mail. I can listen to the voice mail and call anyone back.
The laptop may be connected through the neighbours wi-fi which they may have graciously provided guest access to me for free understanding that as I'm unemployed I'm skint.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

That's just a long-winded way of saying 'I can't be bothered answering the phone to you'.
Also, nobody will believe you when you say that "a mobile phone is too expensive" - you could pick up a working Nokia 3210 for £5 to £10 which accepts incoming calls on a free pay as you go sim.
That is worthy of a sanction in my opinion.0 -
I know you're only trying to help by warning people, but I suspect the Remploy advisor may have not given you the whole story here, or maybe there was a bit of a misunderstanding between the two of you.0

I can't see this being true. Having a mobile phone isn't needed to be eligible for Jobseekers allowance IIRC.
Even if it was, if there are still some areas of the UK that have no mobile coverage at all indoors. All your base are belong to us.0 -
So it's compulary then to have a mobile phone or face a sanction if you don't have one.:eek:0

The Jobcentre actually calls you on your mobile. and if you don't pick it up the first time, you get a sanction!
This has actually happened to someone who went to remploy, like i do.
I think its disgusting! Say what if you're at an interview or maybe even on the toilet or no reception. blooming ridiculous!! who else has come across this i wonder? Thought i better warn people on here you never know.
It's b0ll0cks, you do know Remploy and the JC are like best buddies?
They love to scare people. (dont worry about it)
To Sanciton someone they need proof.... not picking up the phone isn't that 'proof' don't lose sleep over it. you'll be fine.• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -
Citations please...
I think the OP has way too much time on their hands. Fancy setting aside some for the process of actually looking for work?0
