To stay as o2 payg or take out new o2 contract £16 sim only deal

Hello

Well I've been an o2 payg customer for over 10 years and top up £15 each month for 100mb data and unlimited calls and texts to o2 only. Use a £6 bolt on to get extra 500mb of data, get my 10% o2 rewards back every 3 months so suppose its costing me £13.50 per month for payg. Probably could do with more data but I turn mobile data off when I'm at home and use my BT wifi.

Got a call from o2 today saying about a sim only deal they have exclusively for payg customers at £16 a month to change to pay monthly. I have my own iphone so don't need a new phone. This sim only deal is unlimited calls and texts to any network and 2GB data. Seems a good deal at £16 per month and it's a contract for a year.

Said I wasn't sure about a contract but as she said I'm with o2 for over 10 years and this would be better for me. Don't know what to do and there calling me back, my payg is only unlimited calls and texts to o2 and this sim only deal is unlimited to any network, plus 2GB data. Oh decisions, decisions!!

    Depends on your actual needs.
Do you really need unlimited minutes and 2Gb?
    500+2Gb cost £12 on giffgaff without any contract. 1000+4Gb = £15.

1500+1Gb = £10 at Tesco Mobile, although I am not sure that they offer 4g.

On average they tell me I use 800 minutes per month to o2. My o2 friends are saying no don't change to a different network as it will cost them to call me as they are o2 payg lol

I'm probably happy enough with what I get but do find most months my data (600mb) runs out very quickly!!

Switch to giffgaff and tell your friends to do the same.
    Calls are free within giffgaff.
You will be fine with 500+1Gb for £10.

Ask him to send you a text and you call him back.

Seeing I use 800 minutes on average I'd probably need more than 500 minutes. Would like to keep my own number though!

Think it might cost them as well to text cross network as there like me only free to call and text o2

What you're paying now and what they offered are both terrible deals compared to current prices elsewhere. But if you want to pay a lot more so your friends can call you for free then thats a decision for you to make whether you essentially want to pay for their calls.

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/simplicity/#/tariffs - You were offered £2 off a overly priced plan

    For example elsewhere:
    2000 minutes
    5000 texts
6GB data- 12 months Double Data (norm 3GB)
    £15/mo - 30 day contract
    IDMobile on 3 network

    1000 minutes
    5000 text
    1GB data
    £7.50 a month - 12 month contract
    Talkmobile on Vodafone network

Just ask your friends to give you a miss call and call back if you do move.

Oh if you're BT customer then that offer is a no brainer.

    Use Quidco to get £40:
    http://www.quidco.com/bt-mobile/

It makes it around £3-4/mo and i believe you also get a £20 voucher on top as well

You won't if your friends switch to giffgaff too.
Would like to keep my own number though!
What do you mean? You can take it with you to any network.
