Urgent advice re: ESA medical and change of circumstances

Back in March my Brother fell down stairs and badly dislocated his hip. He claimed ESA for that injury because both the consultant and GP stated that he wouldn't be available for work for up to 2 years at least.

He received an appointment for a medical fairly recently, which he attend, but got sent home as they were too busy to see him. So the appointment was rearranged.

Since falling down the stairs, my other brother died in very tragic circumstances. So that placed extra stress on my brother.

Then a couple of months ago, he was rushed to A & E with a perforated bowl. He was told that he could've died if the ambulance hadn't arrived when they did.

He also recently went to see a bereavement councillor, who suggested he could have PTSD and she is writing to his doctor to request he gets a mental health assessment.

My brother has worked all of his life, so is very unfamiliar of the benefit system.

His atos appointment is now the middle of November and I am wondering whether he should inform the DWP of what has happened since his fall? Because his circumstances have gotten worse. His doctor has given him letters to take with him when he goes for his medical, and has told my brother if he is told he is fit for work, that he doctor will speak to DWP on his behalf.

I know that this new information should have been done sooner, but we have all been in a state due to my other brother dying.

If anyone can offer advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to post on the Benefits board you may get more replies. I would imagine it would be good to send in the additional information.

You need to look at the descriptors and see where you think he would get the points needed for the WRAG or check and see if any of the support group descriptors match up.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j
