E: 27/11 Win A Copy Of "Grow Your Own Wedding Flowers"

Received in Common Farm Flowers Newsletter‏

Question - What is one of my top tips in the list I made in a recent blog post about woodland wedding themed flowers?

Choose one of these:
 • Wiring crab apples into little bunches makes it easier to insert them into bunches and posies, and to wire into garlanding too.
 • Fresh willow wreaths have wonderful colour at this time of year. Dry willow will need soaking for several days in a bath to give it enough suppleness to be worked into wreaths, but it’ll never have the jewel colours of fresh willow varieties.
 • Chinese lanterns might look a little sad on the stem if a frost has wilted the leaves. Take the lanterns off the stems and wire them individually to add to posies and garlands.
 • If using blackberries for buttonholes and hair combs as we did here, make sure the blackberries aren’t so ripe: purple blackberry jiuce will stain those expensive wedding outfits horribly if you don’t take care.
 • Our groom is American, and so a little strip of stars and stripes ribbon in the posies and on the garlands gave a little nod to the country where the couple live. (How to create a seasonal woodland wedding theme)
