Somerfield Davidstow Cheddar - £1.18 for 500g

As in the title, Somerfield is selling Davidstow Mature Cheddar at £1.18 for 500g. At least they are in my local store in Honiton.

Needless to say, this is a very good price. Even with the various BOGOF offers around, I don't any other store can come close to £2.36 per kg / £1.07 per lb for mature cheddar. Tesco were recently selling their Davidstow Cheddar at £1.87 for 500g, which was itself a good deal, but they now have it at the full price of £3.75.

There was some small print on the shelf edge label about limiting how many you can buy, but I bought three packs no problem.

I'm not sure. I didn't notice an expiry date. I have a feeling this may a very limited offer. The best before date on the blocks I bought is August 25th, so it looks like they are clearing stock.

I know that Cathedral city is on offer at the moment, but I haven't seen any Davidstow. I'll have a good look tomorrow. Promos change on a Wednesday so the earliest it'll change is next week if its a national offer.
