Money Savers Arms

Last ooorders!… We’re sorry but for now, due to resources, we need to close the Money Savers Arms including Discussion Time.

It’s not easy to write this. We love the forum, but we also have a job to do to protect it, our users and MoneySavingExpert, and at the moment, with all our resources focused on Coronavirus information, and all the team at home, we don’t feel we have the resources to do a good enough job.

For four months, we’ve been struggling to cope with the huge volumes of messages we’ve been getting from Forumites – many of whom are in desperate and dire straits with their finances. The team have been working all hours to try and keep on top of it. At first we thought it’d be a short sharp spike, but it isn’t, it’s continuing, so we have had some difficult choices to make about prioritisation.

Unfortunately in, and likely because of, these stressful times, the Forum team have also been receiving an increasing number of complaints about posts made on the Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time. The team have done what they can to try and walk the tightrope of balancing all the various interests, but for now we need to draw a line under this and temporarily close this Board, so we can keep the key, MoneySaving boards – where people are supporting each other through this crisis - running smoothly.

We know this board is important to you, but as the MSE stance has been forbearance throughout this crisis, now we ask that of you. We’re sorry. Of course you can post on other boards, but we’d ask you to stick to the subjects of those boards, and not use them as a surrogate Money Savers Arms or Discussion Time. And as always please be kind and friendly to each other, especially any newbies.

Thanks
MSE Forum Team

    Poor Sleazy. :(

I wonder why your eye is so red and sore.

Did you rub it with something on your hands, or is it a stye?
Is it the eyeball that is red, or the eyelid?

It's the eyeball ... GP told me what to treat it with (said they don't prescribe eye drops or ointment now - NHS saving money perhaps?).

Anyway, some antibiotic eye drops that I now have every two hours for 2 days, then every 4 hours for another 3 days.

Wondered where you were - thought you'd maybe gone out for the day.

    Grrrr. The internet went again.

Right in the middle of editing a post, too.

This might be a thing, so if I disappear, don't panic!

(But I will be out a lot the next two days, although I should be able to post sometimes if the internet is on).

    Chloramphenicol?

I think, (dredges brain for distant memory), that most bloodshot eye conditions do resolve by themselves, but those types don't tend to be sore.

Has Bobby been licking your face straight after doing his 'ablutions'?

That's the one, and Bobby only licks the back of my hand (or feet if I'm barefoot). And finger tips when I give his wine ration of course!

At one point a couple of days ago, it was physically hurting, so more than sore, hence my GP visit. She said if the Chloramphenicol doesn't settle it down in a couple of days she'll send me down the local hospital. she had a look, but no sign of a stye, just very infected ... more comfortable when it's closed, so I look a bit strange ...

It's possible that you may have brushed you eye or forehead with a bobby-germy hand, and later touched that spot and then your eye.

    It's very difficult with pets.

I must admit, I did use to try to wash my hands if a pet licked them, but it is easy to forget, and of course, it might not have been that anyway.

I'm terrible for touching my eyes, and all parts of my face. The eye touching started years ago when I wore contacts, to make sure there weren't any loose lashes that could get under the lens, or to wiggle away somehing irritating the eye when the lens was in.
I get sort of 'itchy' a lot, so that's why I touch my face...it's part of the ADHD...hypersensitivity to light touch. It's worsened since I grew my hair, because the longer hair keeps touching my face.

I carry some antiviral spray around with me everywhere, as a result.

Must say - it's been a beautiful day today! :D Anyone would think
    it was summer. soleilcoeur.gif

I've been trawling around town for most of the day - needed
quite a few bits and bobs including decent walking boots, couple
    more shirts, warm cardy etc.

I'm going away this coming weekend with son (Friday to Tues).
We're off to stay with lovely family up Lincoln way. They've got
plenty planned including a trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, a joint
birthday party for gorgeous granddaughters at the local village
hall. _party_ It makes good sense because their birthdays are
only one month apart. It's also my daughter's birthday :j _party_
& we're all off out for an evening meal to celebrate. Think there'll
be quite a few of us raising our glasses etc etc. drinking-wine-smiley-emoticon.gif

And in between all of that, we'll be out dog walking - that's one
of the reasons why I treated myself to new walking boots! :p

Puddy cat will be coming up to stay at the house, I always like
to take her with me (if possible), and a couple of good friends
will be staying at mine for a well earned break. Happy days. :j

Couldn't believe the amount of people I saw in town (all ages,
not just youngsters), who were walking around scrolling on their
blooming mobile phones. One mum (complete with pushchair),
was so engrossed with her phone that she almost collided with
me - luckily I managed to jump out of the way. It was like
being surrounded by zombies, was fairly pleased to get
    back home.

Sorry to hear about your poorly eye Sleazy. :( I've had a red eye
recently. It happens to me a couple of times a year. My optician
says it's 'digital eye strain' ecrire-ordi.gif & gives me a telling off, :naughty:
but thankfully it's nothing dodgy, health wise. It usually rights
itself after a few days or so.

That's just reminded me. I'll try to post as many events as
possible before I go away, because there's quite a few that I
think may be of interest. But I'll just be posting a shorter
    version of each, iyswim. :p

I’m famished now so going to have a rummage through the
freezer to see what I can rustle up!
