Praise for Tesco

Went into my local superstore on Friday to buy some groceries and a bottle of j*germeister (ugh) for my husband, who was with me. We went through the scan and shop, and I thought the total was a bit high, but assumed that revoltingly flavoured german rotgut is expensive.

It was only on Monday that I checked the receipt (while sorting out expenses for my Girl Guides) and realised we'd been charged twice for the booze - the assistant had scanned it again after removing the security tag for us.

I was expecting a real battle to get a refund - after all, how do you prove you were doublecharged by an unmanned checkout when buying expensive booze? Instead the staff were very helpful, noted that the additional bottle had been scanned after the age check and ran the refund through.

They noted that the refund was at their discretion, and advised I check my receipts before leaving the store next time. Which is a fair point. So thanks Tesco!

I had a similar thing at Pret where I paid contactless and they charged me double by mistake. They refunded as well three days later.

It's great when a corporate giant does things like this when they don't need to. Its excellent customer service.
  • That's fantastic!

Tesco also have a policy too called "Double the Difference" where if you notice you have been charged more on the receipt than the advertised price, you can go to customer services and get double the amount you were overcharged on a gift card!

I've noticed this a couple of times and been rewarded for it! :j :j :j
:money: Keep calm and carry on couponing! :money:

My mum practically makes a second living out of this deal. She got £80 back on cases of cava after they were mispriced.
