Post Office charge seven pounds....
That's to verify identity in a format that is accepted by somesolicigtors for money laundering purposes - but that isn't a Land Registry ID1.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -

Can her solicitors demand that completed ID1s are the ONLY document they deem to be acceptable to "prove who we are".
WE both have valid passports, photo driving licences, multiple bank & credit cards and all original paper statements, numerous monthly/quarterly utility bills and we've both lived at our current address for over 35 years - all the things that would be examined to "validate" an ID1 !!!!

I expect they can ask for whatever they like. They're under no obligation to deal with you. But given it seems to be obstructing the transaction, their clients may choose to instruct a less awkward firm to act for them instead.0 -

I agree with you that the ID1 form is between you and the land registry. It has nothing to do with the solicitor acting for the seller.
This solicitor by asking for this is asking for something which it it is impossible for you to provide. The solicitor is certainly obliged to ensure that you provide them with REASONABLE proof of your identity. The other documents that you have provided should more than satisfy this requirement.
Does the solicitor really understand the problem? Or is it possible that he is acting through malice to force you to use a solicitor?"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
