npower demanded meter reading, so I demanded a picture of a banana with a face on it.
A bit of fun I thought might cheer you all up.
Npower were demanding I send them a meter reading to resolve my complaint (about them reading the meter wrong), so I demanded they send me a picture of a banana with a face drawn on it first as a bit of a laugh…
This all happened when I was complaining via Twitter. I was a little annoyed with the situation (although it wasn't a big deal at this point, I'd just noticed my meter had been misread to the tune of 12,000 units) and annoyed with the delay in them responding and then just asking for a ridiculous amount of security information.
So, I asked for my own security information... One part of which was a request for a picture of a banana with a face drawn on it. I didn't get the other 'security' answers, but insisted on the picture...

The guy at npower (who played along with my silliness throughout the conversation, fair play to him) was reticent, but I stuck to my guns. No picture, no meter reading.
Eventually, I opened up my Twitter messages and... :money:

A deal is a deal so I then provided the meter readings as requested... but in the form of maths puzzles. :rotfl:
I have the full (long!) funny conversation but don't know the rules on posting links to personal blogs and stuff on here so didn't want to post it and get in trouble!
Hope that cheered you up! See, you can get the energy companies to work for you from time-to-time!

That is hilarious! Thank you, and fair play to the chap on the other end!“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

Personally, as they good spiritedly met you bizarre request, I think you should have just given them the reading not a maths puzzle. Ultimately do you want fun or the problem resolved asap?

Fair point, undaunted. But the maths puzzle was in the spirit of the conversation, which had been going on a while and was getting quite silly. The guy at npower took it all in his stride and played along well.
The full funny transcript is on my blog, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to post a link to it on here and don't want to get in trouble, so you might have to try googling it or searching for my twitter for a link or something.0
