Parent and child both claiming WTC in same household.

Hi,
I'm a 27 year old man currently living at home after university. I am self-employed working 40 hours a week, and in February '15 made a claim for working tax credits, after checking online that it is safe to do so, as my mother also claims. My claim was approved and I began receiving WTC. Around the same time, my mother was subjected to a check of her circumstances to make sure she was still eligible. We made it clear that I was her son, and that I also claimed. Her WTC were then stopped, and today she has received a letter stating that her tax credits claim has been stopped from April '14, and she will have to pay back any moneys owed, which obviously she is panicking about. The letter doesn't state why her claim is stopped, other than her updated information not matching what they had on record for her.
Does her claim being stopped have anything to do with my claim? If so, wouldn't they have just not approved me? I can find nothing in the guidelines regarding parents and children claiming separately in the same household, and have read stories from other people saying they are doing the same thing without issue.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

you are treated separately for Working Tax Credits.
Possibly your mothers hours are not sufficient for WTC or her income is too high0
