Just to balance things a bit, perhaps all those fretting over whether to but their second hand Passat or not should think of it as the sports model because if/when this impacts on the EU you can be sure any later models will be gutless in comparison.

Sounds like future classics to me (with only a little tongue in cheek).

I wonder how many other manufacturers are keeping their heads down at the moment?

My thought was that perhaps buyers would steer clear of VAG cars for a while so it could be a good time to get a bargain (especially if you're after a petrol car).
