Hi just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.Am having a money-saving NYE in the house with a few beers left over from Christmas.Should get my Mortgage statements round the middle of Jan so ill know exactly how much ill have left to pay off.On the up side have paid off my council tax a month earlier so i can start saving up for next years bill in April 2016.Hopefully wife will get a new job by then.Shes been told she has to work up to the place closes to qualify for her redundency. If she gets a part-time job before then her work says they will work with around her so if she gets a job working mornings they will let her do evening shifts till the place shuts in April.Hope everybody has a Great New YEAR!0

Should be under the 60,000 mark by the time next months payment comes out saving me around 6000 pounds in 7 yrs 6 months by just keeping my overpayment in place and also knocking 4yrs 6months off my mortgage.Wife still not got new job shes only 12wks to go till her workplace closes.Think someone else has got the job she was looking at the school so she'll have to look for something else.Still waiting for my yearly mortgage statement to come,it usually has arrived by now. Will give it a few more weeks and if it hasnt come by then will ring up and ask if it has been sent out.0

Great news on the mortgage.
Less good news on the wife's job.
Will be spring soon, maybe a better time for job hunting.
Fingers crossed

Got our hall stairs and landing carpeted and fitted for 300 pounds the other day which i thought was reasonable enough and cost us nothing cos for Christmas my mum offered to give us the money towards it.Have been offered o/t this Sunday which will help towards this months mortgage payment.Wife doing extra hours in work at the minute so she can pay off a catalogue bill before she loses her job.0

Hi every1 My mortgage statement for 2015 arrived this morning.I still owe 37,764.52 on 1st mortgage with 12yrs 2 months left and 17,173.19 on my extension mortgage.Paid 1,564 .11 interest on mortgage 1 and 851.62 interest on the extension mortgage with 5yrs 6months left to pay on it.So just under 55,000 left to pay on mortgage without the interest on it.Think the interest adds about 4-4500 on it.Checked the mortgage calculator and have worked out i can pay off the mortgage by June 2023 was May 2024 so aiming towards this date.So 7yrs 4mnths to go and hopefully it will be paid.0

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update about my wife and her getting a new job.She went for an interview last wk but didnt get the job which she was a bit disappointed as she thought she had a good chance then this Wednesday she got a phonecall from the school asking her if shed come in and cover for a girl out on the sick so she said she would in order to get her foot in the door if a job came up.Theres a girl going out on maternity after Easter so she might get her job Supervisor of the canteen very impressed with her and at the the minute she has put her down on the list for schools canteen staff in the town that needs someone to cover sickness or sick leave.Shes still working in b+q till April so at last things are looking UP!So proud of her!0

That's awesome news. I recently quit my job in a shop to work in schools as a supply TA, I was expecting to get maybe 1-1.5 days a week on average. I'm signed up with 2 schools and have had on average 4 days a week for the first half term. Sometimes taking a leap of faith or having it thrust upon us is a really good thing.

Thanks Ecoelle for the reply.Yes i think you're right when you lose your job you think its the end of the world or if you leave you think to yourself have i done the right thing?Wife trying to see this as a new oppurtunity to do something that she wouldn't have done if the place she worked wasn't closing down.0

Hi there Am pleased to let everyone know my wife was offered a cleaning job working in the school nursery 10hrs a wk 2hrs each afternoon and it can be any 2hrs between 1.30 and 5.00 and she has accepted it and starts this afternoon so if she gets offered work in the school canteen which is temporary at the minute she can combine the 2 jobs which means i can carry on paying my mortgage overpayment.0
