I don't know, but if you buy them after security they are put in a special bag that allows them to travel with you.

On the actual flight or in the shops in the airport in Italy?

You can in the airport but it won't be duty free so your savings would be relatively small.

A 1L bottle of Bacardi here in the UK is only £17. You could save a few pounds.

I would have though most people buy premium alcohol with a high price tag to save the most.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Like most other airlines they only sell alcohol as duty free on non-EU flights. They don't sell it on EU flights, same with tobacco.

You can buy it after security at Manchester airport. Savings might not be much against the high street.

You may well find lower prices in an Italian supermarket.

If you're planning to drink it while in Italy, as eDicky says it may well be cheaper to buy there.

If you want it for when you get back to the UK, you could use the Collect on Return service so you don't even need to take it on the plane at all.

Most spirits in Italy are quite cheap. I do no know about Bacardi, but you can get white rum in quite a few places.

Provided you are checking in luggage as it will be taken off you it it is in hand luggage. I'm sure the airport staff are delighted to relieve passengers of their bottles!
