You will not get a bank account if you are not on the voters roll. Fill in the form when it comes in the next few months. It's the 'canvas period' now.
As for ID, apply for a passport or driving license. They are much better documents for proving who you are. You will get them 1-2 weeks after filling in your form. Quite a quick turn around time.0 -
No need to wait for the form, just call the council and ask to register on the electoral roll.
BT bill is not enough ID, you will normally need both proof of address (i.e. your bill) and photographic proof of identity - i.e. a passport or drivers licence. Apply for one or the other now.
As an aside, what do you do without a bank account, keep your money under your bed? :P0 -
You'd definately get a basic bank account without being on the voters roll.
Didn't know that. I assume you have a basic bank account without being on the voters role then.
When I had one a long time ago, I need to be on it, as at the end of the application form it says the bank will check the credit reference agency to confirm your identity, credit status, etc.... Unless you are not a UK citizen, I guess you can get a basic bank account without being on the voters role.0 -

There are other documents that some banks take as ID such as a Tax notification letter for the current tax year, or a letter confirming benefits.
You can use the BT bill to confirm your address.0
