December 2015 Grocery Challenge HO HO HO!!!!

Went to A!di this morning then into Morri$ons so now Christmas shopping is all done. So busy even though we went early and a few things not in stock. We were going to have the lobster claws for a starter but the couple of packs they had looked as if they had gone off so we left them. No more shopping for us until at least Monday and then only if we want milk. We have also decided not to have another full roast on boxing day as there will be beef and ham left plus various other bits and bobs - so the pork is staying in the freezer for another time. We rarely have a pudding as we are full with the main meal.
Our total so far is £143.54 this month.
Good luck to everyone who hasn't finished their shopping just yet.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
I couldn't find a carton of rum sauce anywhere in a massive Mr T yesterday. Maybe they don't do it anymore:( My great aunt Doris always used to make rum sauce to go with the Christmas pud and I prefer it to brandy sauce.
Recipe for brandy/rum sauce
Ingredients
55g/2oz butter
55g/2oz plain flour
570ml/1 pint milk
4 tbsp brandy or dark rum
55g/2oz castor sugar
Method
Melt the butter and stir in the flour.
Cook for 2 minutes and then stir in the milk.
Bring to the boil, stirring all the time, and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
Stir in the brandy (or rum) and the sugar and serve with Christmas pudding
Hopefully final spends today until Sunday. Had to get swede and shallots, toilet rolls, Fa*ry and softener.
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and the preparations are going well

Well, pleased to say that I did manage to stay within the budget for this year's GC and will now declare a spend of £2,492.81 for 2015.#Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain #We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us #If you focus on what you have left behind, you will never see what lies ahead - Gusteau/RatatouilleGC 2022: £0/£2,500 total spend0
