Assistance with travel insurance

Hi,

Am I in the right place for assistance with travel insurance? I can't seem to find another place on the forum for it?

I have a couple of trips planned for next year, so I'm looking for a family multi-trip ticket. The problem is that I was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and I finished three cycles of chemotherapy in June.

My wife has also had a stroke but this was 8 years ago.

I've tried the top sites recommended by this site's Travel Insurance page, and I've also tried Confused.com, but all insurers refuse to offer cover. I'm assuming that this is because of my cancer.

What should I do? Get travel insurance for my wife and the kids and just accept that I can't get cover? Or is there a specialist company that I can use?

thanks in advance for your help.

  • The problem with going without insurance is all the costs if anything happens. When my nan was in hospital in Tunisia for 3 days I think the cost was £1k, I had an ear infection in America and it was $75 to see the doctor and $140 ish for the ear drops. Have you gone through all the ones on the list above?
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:
  • we use an annual policy from getmy who are underwritten by Firstassist. They are just being rebranded into https://www.cignainsure.co.uk

    my OH has multiple health issues and basically you declare the condition and they give you 2 choices, either it can be excluded or covered for an additional premium. its really easy to set up and with his 4 conditions we still pay circa £100 for an annual multitrip policy inc winter sports (not USA)
    If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation ;)

    Try a broker specialising in travel insurance, they'll know who to go to.
    Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • Actually, a friend recommended getting advice from Macmillan. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself.

    It turns out that InsuranceWith was founded by a lady who worked in insurance but found she couldn't get travel insurance because of her breast cancer. They should be able to help.
