Moving accounts.

Probably a daft question but cant find the answer to it.

I want to move accounts from the Natwest to Abbey but i have a loan with the Natwest. Is it still possible to move accouts and just move the loan payment as well?

Thanks

Martin

  • I would guess you would need to apply for a current account and then apply for a loan to cover the settlement figure on the existing deal. You will not, as far as I know, get a new bank to take over a loan on the same terms, it will be a case of take a new loan and settle.

However, whilst you may want to move your current account, why not leave your existing loan in place, keep the current account open and transfer funds across in time to meet the repayments.

You should be able to move current accounts with no problems at all, you will just need to pay natwest from your new abbey account.
