My neighbour has damaged the base of a bush in her garden and has asked for my help to rescue it, trouble is that I have not been able to find out what it is :o

Help please

The main stem is quite thick but the flowering stems seem quite delicate, it originally stood about a metre tall and has had a succession of these beautiful flowers all summer.

I asked about a similar unknown plant in my garden a little while ago, so I can now pretend to be knowledgeable and say it is a rock rose (cistus). But I am jealous. My pink rock rose only flowered for a very short time. If yours has flowered all summer, I'm getting one.

I wonder if I could grow it from cuttings :)

Our summer has only lasted about 3 days this year, so that would be correct, but a cistus that flowers for many weeks on end?????

bouicca is correct with the ID. I grow the small, 'wild' one, but although it has more, the flowers don't last any longer. :(

My cistus is well over a metre tall on a thick bare trunk. I have concluded it is not worth saving - but I took cuttings towards the end of last week and so far, cross fingers, they look happy enough.
