in Credit cards
Hi,
I am looking to get a new credit card as my initial one is now up (0% on purchases).
I had a look on experian on their credit card match and I appear to match best the 'Barclaycard Platinum Purchase'. My current credit card is with Barclaycard. I have matched the Barclaycard Platinum Purchase by 80%.
I have a £5000 loan with my bank which I have made two payments to, on time each time.
My Barclaycard credit limit is £400 and the card had 0% on purchases for 3 months.
I use the credit card to pay for everything really but mainly fuel and pay off in full every month. I don't use the credit card unless I have the money to cover what I am spending on it.
What am I best to do?
a) Close my existing credit card and apply for a new one
b) Keep my existing credit card and apply for a new one
c) suggestions

If you only currently have the one, I would certainly keep it. One day a back up will be essential.
However, not sure if you can have two Barclaycards.0 -

Barclaycard allow you to have multiple cards.
Thinking of getting another Barclaycard?
Since you already have a Barclaycard, you’re probably aware of the great benefits you can enjoy. If you’d like another credit card from us, you could choose from a range of credit cards in our wide range. How long have you had your BC Initial? Looking on their website it shows 0% on purchases for 3 months.
I know someone who had the same limit as you, which was increased after 6 months. If this is the case and you have only had it for 3 months, this may be why the credit limit is so low at the moment. Also with only 2 payments made on your loan I would give it time. At present, on paper you look good at taking out credit but have limited records to evidence paying it all back.

I have had the card now for four months.
This is true, I forgot to add that I also have my mobile phone contract which I have now been paying on time and in full for the past 9 months.0 -
You are doing everything right so far. You just need to play the waiting game now as nothing you can do will increase how long you've had each account. It's frustrating but now you just require patience, and lots of it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
