Debit Card Chargeback For Faulty Laptop Via PayPal

I bought a laptop via PayPal for about £800.00 which was advertised as new. In my opinion it was old and unused however I don’t think the seller deceived me. It had a slight software fault which was rectified by downloading updated software off the manufacturers website.
However 8 days later it stopped working, would not boot so I opened a PayPal case. To cut a long story short they asked me to get a repaired shop to do diagnostics and it turned out one of the hard drives was broken (it’s a gaming laptop).
PayPal have refused to refund because it’s a “warranty issue” as the laptop was working when I received it.
However I paid for it with joint PayPal funds of about £80.00, and £720.00 on my Visa debit card so I’m considering doing a charge back and I’ve read the Money Saving article on this.
Is this an appropriate use of the charge back as I’m sure nothing I did caused the Laptop to break and should I do a charge back?
I read about PayPal horror stories that happen to seller however I never thought one would happen to me as a buyer.

you bought paypal creditDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

No. I had some PayPal credit in there from sales. Am I justified to file a charge back?0

No, what chanz is getting at is that you can't charge back to your debit card as you didn't use your debit card to purchase the laptop. You used your debit card to purchase an additional £720 of Paypal credit and the Paypal credit was used to purchase the laptop.
Out of interest, why haven't you gone down the warranty route?0 -

There isn't a warranty. "Warranty Issue" is PayPals way of saying it worked when you opened the package.0 -
Was it bought on ebay? If so then you need to contact the seller and request a refund. I've done that a few times when things have been described as new when they weren't.
By the way, why have you written in such big black letters?:)0 -

I'm not sure what your reasoning for this is, if it was advertised as new and wasn't then you've been deceived. And if it had really been new then there's a good chance that it actually would have come with a warranty which you could have claimed on.0 -

I copied and pasted from Word and that's the font that came up.0 -

Ah I see. I've often wondered why people choose to change the font. Perhaps they don't!0 -
Reportedly, chargeback against Paypal is possible.
It's a different matter that Paypal don't like it and whether there are any grounds for chargeback in this case.
I have heard about this and this is what I'm planing. All i really know about it is PayPal have a clause that says if you do it they can suspend your account so it must be possible. Also is this charge back justified?I bought a laptop via PayPal for about £800.00 which was advertised as new. In my opinion it was old and unused however I don’t think the seller deceived me
The laptop was new in the sense that it was unused however it was an old model. There may be grounds for a PayPal dispute however I don't think I'll be able to open another case. I'll message PayPal and hope for the best.0
