Was walking the dog today and came across these

Now at 1st I thought these were sloe plums/berries or whatever we call them. But the branches are not thorny and as you can see these thing are actually more of a tree than a bush. Can anyone help id these please ?

They are blackthorn (sloes). Pick late Sept/Oct, add to gin and store in dark place until you can resist no more!0

Bullaces have less spines than sloes but similar fruit. I think you might have to be brave and taste one to be sure!0

They are not sloes. I have plenty of those. I have damsons too.
They just look like plums to me.0 -
I am told by the locals that these fruit grow no larger than a grape. As i said my 1st thought were sloes but there are absolutely no thorns in site and these "trees" are easily 12 foot + high...Still a little in the dark.0
