Is this normal??

We are currently going through a house purchase (a repo) and our solicitors don't seem to be very good with communication, to be honest I'm starting to lose patience. Our conveyancer went on annual leave for a week which we weren't told about, it was only because I called about a different matter that it was mentioned to us; I've just gotten off the phone to them after calling for an update but I've been told our case is now being looked after by an 'Alison'. I asked who Alison was and apparently she is new but is a conveyancer.
Is this normal? Its starting to feel like a p-take, not being told about anything important like this.

Yes, it's normal. If you aren't unhappy with the estate agent or the solicitor then you are probably dreaming."The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0
