STA Australia Rail Pass

I just purchased a Australian rail pass from STA travel agent over the phone but have just realised that I am better off without it.

Am I entitled to a full refund as it is within 24 hours of cancelling a purchase if I ring them in the morning, is this part of the cooling period rule?

No, there is no cooling-off period for things like travel tickets. They may or may not do something to help you on a goodwill basis, but you have no right to this.
