In debt & working out our SOA. How do you budget for haircuts & beauty products?

This might sound trivial and deluded, but I don't think I can do this if it means looking a mess for the next x number of years so I want to budget for basic toiletries, haircuts and replacing my beauty essentials as and when they run out.

But I'm not sure how. I know what I spend now - and I've got to cut it down dramatically.

What do other people do?

And if the beauty area is not your sticking point - then what is it that YOU have trouble giving up / cutting down on? (It might make me feel better to know that other people struggle with this too.)

Cheers guys,

Love Jacks xxx

PS How do I get a sig???

    Hi there
I would religiously look at the freebies board on this site. There is ALWAYS a freebie for some sort of makeup/perfume/other smelly on there. But quite often there is a limited amount of items. But I got a nice Maybelline mascara the other week (had to go into Debenhams to get it but was going anyway). You just printed out the voucher and gave it to the assistant. Free love it!

Also there is a grabbit while you can board, where posters put up great deals on all sorts. There is a Boots board or thread on there, which details the latest deal and combinations of deals/extra points, so that this time around said item will be dead cheap, but next time another item may well be free because of all the points you get:rotfl: . I am assuming you have a Boots points card!

Also you could drop hints to family about exactly what x y or z product you would like for your birthday/xmas so you can stock up.

Other than that how long can you REALLY go with what you have. I am currently working my way through all my shower gel etc by using it in my hand wash bottle, smells lovely and saves me on the hand wash. I also know of people who use same to wash hair instead of shampoo etc. Make up I know is more of a problem, as it goes off after a while, but maybe you could try to find colours you like but in a cheaper range?

Wow for someone who doesn't use make up that was long
    best of luck

Maybe try & work out how long each item lasts & costs, then work it out over 12m, then back to a weekly amount to be put into your budget.

Same with haircuts - but see if it's cheaper to go midweek, or to have a trim from a supervised trainee at your usual salon. I personally have been growing my hair so it only gets cut about every 6m, but I spend £50 every 10-12w on my highlights, done at Toni & Guy by one of their newly qualified colour technicians, so thats my £4/w treat!
