Time to get out of debt and live a frugal life

After regularly reading the posts on here I have become a little obsessed with money saving and debt busting so decided to start my own diary to save for the future and get rid of my unwanted debts! Nearing 30 I need to try and organise my life a little better...

Aiming to get rid of debt
- cc £380
- loan1 £2200
- loan2 £850

Savings £1100
Emergency fund £50

Aiming to save 10k asap

Here's to my fantastic frugal living!

  • First steps

    Save save save!
    eBay x5 weekly
    £20 weekly grocery budget
    Find more free days out
Pay of cc and cut it up
    lunch to work
  • No spend day and sold an item on eBay - feeling positive!

Will save monthly for home insurance this time and pay it off at once instead of monthly DD to save the extra charges - every little helps!
  • So today I spent:
    £1.00 juice
    £0.54 reduced bread
    £2.98 chicken breasts
    £4.50 wine - much needed!
    Total = £9.02

Was a bit of a 'I have nothing for tea shop' feel a bit disheartened though now after spending about £18.00 in Al*i last week on a full weeks shop!

    Must try harder!!!

On the plus side ive joined the 1% challenge - feeling determined to target each debt individually starting with paying off my credit card :-)
  • You sound like me I know what I should be doing just struggle to do it :D that's my new saying must try harder.

Did you really have 'nothing for tea' Pennypurse? I am guilty of this, but actually have loads of food :o

Is it worth doing a cupboard / fridge / freezer audit and a meal plan? When I do this I always find that there is actually *plenty* for tea, and for many nights :)
  • Hi Dawn

Yes I know what you mean - I need to plan better i do have loads of food in the cupboards but needed the chicken to put with it. I'm guilty of not trying new recipes and sticking to the same things so will try an all new menu plan next week using up my food I already have
