Hi
We are going on holiday for a week to a fishermens cottage in Staithes.
Have been to staithes before but not stayed in that area for a week and I'm just looking for recommendations for things to do and places to eat.
In staithes, Whitby and saltburn.
Family of 4...2 adults, 11 year old and 2 year old.
Hoping to be on the beach a lot but need some rainy day options if poss.
Also does anyone know the nearest decent supermarket to staithes as we usually get a delivery to holiday cottage but apparently that's not ideal in the little winding streets of staithes.
Thanks guys

I stayed in Whitby a few months ago. Visited Staithes one evening and it was lovely. Surprised to see a few restaurants had opened up since I was last there.
Anyway, there is the Co-op in Whitby by the railway station and there's also a fairly new Sainsburys on the outskirts (take the road for Scarborough and it's just out of town on the left).
I like Quayside fish and chips in Whitby http://quaysidewhitby.co.uk/
Also the Humble Pie and Mash shop gets good reviews, but I didn't get there when I stayed http://humblepie.tccdev.com/index.html
I also liked Falling Foss, just outside Whitby http://www.fallingfossteagarden.co.uk/
Robin Hood's Bay is lovely ... apart from the big hill
I spent the day in Scarborough too. Scarborough Mere is nice, just outside the town centre. Also had a lovely breakfast here https://www.facebook.com/cafeview
Also enjoyed Grosmont, Goathland and Lealholm inland. And the pub at Beck Hole (just outside Goathland) is an experience.
Oh, and Sandsend is probably the best bucket and spade beach
Enjoy your stay0 -
Staithes means the Cod and Lobster. Great pub with a view out to sea.
Unfortunately Staithes regularly fails sea bathing standards due to high levels of pollutants.0 -
Thanks guys ...will check the suggestions out
