Courtesy car dilemma

I have a 7 month old car that is in the "menders" and Vauxhall have agreed to cover all the costs and pay for the hire of a rental car because they do not keep a fleet of cars just as courtesy cars any more.
It is a suitable size and powered replacement but I am going on holiday next week for a week and if my own car is not ready I want to take the hire car (going to Great Yarmouth with my mother). Now then, what will happen if my own car is ready a day or so after I have driven to Great Yarmouth in the hire car? Will I incur any costs?
If my own car is fixed then all well and good. Or if they have to keep my car for almost 3 weeks not a problem but what happens if they ring up and I am in Great Yarmouth - I do not want to have to drive all the way back.

Is the car roadworthy?
Did you let them know before hand?
How fine is it to the estimated repair completion?
Certainly if your car isnt roadworthy, you've told them about the holiday and there is nothing they can do to get it back on the road in time then they should really keep you in hire for the holiday.
It may be they can get it back up and running even if not all repairs are completed and thus give you the car back and then take it back in after the holidays. Obviously this all depends on whats wrong with it and if the extra work to do this is more than the hire costs.
If the car was perfectly usable and just making an annoying noise or such and you dont tell them until the morning you leave etc then they may not be willing to consider covering the additional hire.0 -
Well I rang the garage and the car hire people and if I do not have my car by Friday they will extend the rental by a week. It went in last Thursday. The rental car was delivered on Friday afternoon and the original period was until Monday (last) then when my own car was not ready they extended the rental until this Friday.0

if the hire is extended then the garage is the hirer.
It would be a new hire agreement if the op was to be charged.
The garage will be paying peanuts for the hire.
Volvo gave me a 320 BMW over Christmas week as mine was in for a new alternator. Supplied by Enterprise who also supply our work hire cars and charge £25 day for a focus sized model or better0 -
After buying my previous car and arranging a date to part exchange, I found that the garage identified a fault with the heater which they had to fix. This was after a 60 mile drive to complete the deal. The garage offered to take my car as planned and give me a courtesy car. I explained I was going on holiday for a week in the Lake District and they said it wasn't a problem to either take my new car or the courtesy car. I ended up taking my own car because the fault was fixed the day before.0
