I just received the email as well. I don't mean any disrespect to the families who have been affected by the awful events in Tunisia :sad: , but I don't understand why this would affect a holiday to the Maldives? Please forgive my ignorance if I'm being stupid here.

It's probably down to the high terror alert which is covering the majority of tourism hotspots at the moment. I don't blame them really (ITV)

Thanks. I did a bit of reading yesterday after I had posted, and The Maldives has a general threat of terrorism according to UK Govt Foreign Travel Advice. Compare this with Spain and France, for example, who both have a high threat of terrorism, the same as Tunisia.

I think a lot of competitions may stop offering foreign holidays to any country with even a general threat of terrorism, as prizes, in the wake of these events and I don't blame them at all. It's a very sad situation for everyone caught up in the events, both the victims and the locals who rely on tourism for their economy.

It's an odd reaction, to just cancel the comp. Maybe they should offer travel vouchers instead so that people can decide where they want to go

Especially when ITV had all day Friday, Saturday & Sunday to decide not to show the comp at all on air on Monday, but still they did
