Wee bit out of my comfort zone on this one.

Audi A6 3.0 le mans 2008, very well priced but miles are high at 174k.

Runs well and dealer history.

Still worth considering or walk away?

    Depends on price.

Mechanically complex cars, expensive when new (i near bought one new but went for a 535d instead), great to drive...

I wouldnt like to be running one on a budget.

I'm not going to get precious on the asking price as its considerably below similar cars, however you're right about the complexity and potential repair costs.

I'm unsure whether to give it consideration or walk. Gut feeling is to walk away but it is a nice car.

Less than 25k per year for 7 years is good going, some cars won't ever see that mileage.

Exactly this. We're not really talking all-day-every-day motorway or taxi use.

No, but you've the wear of a 14 year old car on a 7 year old one.

I would say £1,500 to £3,000 bills are possible on that car.

I guess it depends how lucky you feel

    Do you, though?

You may well have the same number of cold starts, the same amount of seat bolster wear from getting in and out, you may well even have the same number of gear changes.

Only one way to find out, and that's to look carefully.

As for likely bills - well, low-mileage 7yo diesels are immune from them... :rotfl:

Is 'Dealer History' showing Audi LongLife oil used AND extended oil changes?
This may not be the best thing, compared to regular 10000mile oil changes.

I have a 3.0 tdi sline avant on a 10 plate things to look for are inlet manifold motor failure about £2k duff glowplugs misfire when cold £12 each make sure rear washer works as the pipe can come apart and fill up the MMI unit in the back £1500 Front tyres wear on inside edges more on 3.0 tdis due to weight ive got uniroyals on mine and they are doing ok. Plus make sure the autobox works as it should and there isn't any significant delay in when is coming to stop and you hit the throttle the gearbox doesn't join you 10 secs plus later on. Signs of bust manifold motors are heavy black smoke out of exaust on hard acceleration however usually the dash boards like a Christmas tree One other thing make sure there are no signs of split drinks in the centre consul as this can lead to the ECU under the consul playing up again big money Door locks are another thing mines had two already under warranty
