Rather than a credit card to book. I only wanted a car for London Heathrow to Brighton but all seem to require a credit card. Thanks 4 help.

I've never discussed it, just handed over a debit card, they've put it in the machine and job done

Yes that's why some of them insist on a credit card

A lot of the smaller places still take a paper voucher for damages, which needs a card with raised numbers to imprint. Several debit cards don't use them any more (because they allow electronic payments only) but all credit cards can be imprinted.

There's also more chance of a payment on a credit card that goes over limit being authorised than one on a debit that goes overdrawn / over limit because almost anyone who opens a bank account gets a debit card but you need at least some sort of credit history to get most credit cards.

Definitely Enterprise. Although call them up first and tell them. You may need full funds for the deposit and additional ID/bills.
