New starter motor question
Hi , I need a new starter motor for a focus 1.8 tdci. On looking around there seems to be a massive variation on price from about £75 on Ebay , £112 at Halfords and £140 -150 at local motor spares shops ( Eurocarparts for eg)
Does this represent a wide variation in quality ;where would you get yours from?

I got a replacement alternator from ebay years ago and its still on my car. Just read the description and look at feedback; obviously don't just go for the cheapest if by paying a little more you get what sounds like a better quality part from a supplier with good feedback. I think mine was from somewhere in Devon where they recondition starters and alternators. Even with postage it was still about £30 cheaper than anywhere else. Your alternative is to get a secondhand one from a breakers.0

Examine the old one, if it has failed due to metal chaff sticking inside the starter, thats the rivets from the DMF (dual Mass Flywheel) wearing out and total DMF failure is literally a few hundred miles away at most.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

It has recently ( about 1500 miles ago) had the DMF and damaged clutch replaced. Maybe that has contributed to its demise0
