car accident
hi All
Had a accident in my car this morning and im wondering how this will affect my car insurance, my car is undamaged the other car has a small dent like a golf ball has hit it & a tiny scratch on the front right hand side the guy wants to go thought an insurance clam (would be cheaper just the fix it at a garage i said i would pay for it) ive only been driving for 3-4 mouths, i was going around a slow moving lorry and im pretty sure he when throw a red light because he was not behind me when i was going throw the lights that had turned yellow
Thanks

You can repay your insurer their outlay if it is cost effective and thereby get any lost NCD reinstated.
Do dummy quotes online with and without this fault claim in your history (adjusting NCD if not protected) to see what difference it makes to your premium0 -
You don't want to be telling your insurer that your an "amber gambler", the lights changed to amber as you were passing through them, did they not?
Also sounds like a rear end collision, in which case your unlikely to be held at fault.
You also need to read the highway code, because i'm pretty sure your not supposed to overtake in 30 limits unless the vehicle ahead is going below a certain speed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thanks for the reply it was 30mph going in to a 40MPH zone & the lorry was going about 10-15mph and yes the light just turned yellow as i was passing though , and ill try and to a dummy quote see what happens0

Dummy quote?
Slow down! I can tell you what will happen, you'll most likely get refused insurance!
Forget the lights for a second, you were overtaking a truck and he was trying to overtake you AND a truck in an urban 30 limit.
THIS is something no responsible driver would ever consider doing, one slow moving vehicle? Sure, but a truck a gap AND a car? no way, I mean who knows what's in front of that truck? a cyclist? an old lady crossing?
It sounds to me like this guy is going to try to take advantage of you being a new and slighty naive driver, an advantage that will cost you dearly.
Additional to this, he might be trying for injury claims for him and half his family.
AT MOST all you could have done wrong is not checking your mirrors before overtaking. Now being a new driver I would assume you'd still be doing this automatically, it takes months/years for most people to start falling into bad habits.
Use the highway code to your advantage, you can guarantee this guy hasn't read it for years/decades (or if foreign, EVER).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

it was a one lane road going to a round about then to a two lane road it was just as i was coming to the exit i could see it was clear on the right hand lane so i decided to check my right side mirror and go around the lorry and it was 7am in the morning so basically no one was on the roads and Yea i do still check my mirror a lot and didn't even see him and ive got a blind spot mirror so god knows where he came from, he was the only one in the car i had someone my car (so a witness ?), ill give the highway code a read, thanks for the advise.
By the way i dont thing he new i was a new driver as there is no (P) plate on my car.0 -

Okay, jump down from your high horse for a second and explain why op would have insurance refused?
Wouldn't take much notice of this op.0 -

Could be wrong, but I think he was meaning if they got quotes for no claims (and took out one of those quotes), and then it turns out they had claims - the insurance company would not be happy.0 -

Been driving only a few months and gets involved in a fault accident?
If you try getting insurance quotes with those circumstances, the premium is either going to be extremely high or they'll refuse to insure.More nonsense.
You'll notice I worded it such as I didn't know for sure and I don't.
So get back in your box!
Trolling me is not helping the OP, go ahead bring the rest of the usual cronies in if you like, you'll find as usual I do have teeth and I'm fully capable of using them without a group of said cronies to back me up.
Alternatively, stop steering this thread off into yet another platform for attacking other forum members and start doing something helpful instead......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
