Motorbike CBT

I've just got to tell somebody...I successfully completed my motorcycle CBT (compulsory basic training) yesterday!!
:D:D Given that I'd never ridden a motorbike before (bar a 20 minutes "taster" session), I'm absolutely thrilled to have done it.
I shudder to think how things were before they brought in the CBT and wonder how many riders just got a provisional licence, bought a bike and went onto the public roads knowing anything about a bike or using the roads and suffered injury or death as a consequence.
As a car driver of 25+ years (no longer own one), doing the cbt really makes you think how TOTALLY different being on two wheels is from driving a car and the need for all of us to have mutual respect of ALL other road users - cars, lorries, motorcyclists, cyclists, horse riders and last but not least, pedestrians.
Now looking forward to getting my bike (Honda C90 Cub
) on the road and slowly but surely building up my roadcraft and experience.
Drive or ride safely everyone

Well done! You will enjoy some seriously cheap motoring on any bike up to 125cc0

Nice one. I have thought before about doing my CBT so I could get a scooter. Unfortunately riding around the streets of the Midlands is a bit different to the fantasy I've got in my head, of riding around the streets of Milan or Rome.0

Well done on the CBT.
My bike is a bit bigger than the C90 but a bike is a bike so enjoy.
I will pass on the wise words of my ex police class 1 instructor. "Dress to crash and just imagine that everyone else on the road is trying to kill you and you will do OK!"
Has worked for me for the last 15 years, fortunately haven't tried the crash bit though!

I agree on the usefulness of the CBT, I did mine after years of car driving and went on to get my full license and although I decided against motorcycling in the end I think the skills and experience useful for both car driving and pedal cycling.
