One supplier wants me to register as an ebay business. Is there any downside to thid and if I have an existing ebay id can I just convert it to a business one? TIA patch

Being registered on ebay as a business is totally meaningless, (I am and I don't know why I bothered) I don't know what your supplier is going on about. you can just change your id to a business account but you wll also have to change your paypal account to business status too - they require full details - business bank account etc."There is a light that never goes out"0

The main reason to reg'd as a business on eBay is if your VAT reg'd.
You can change between Business & personal at any time.
Paypal don't require business bank details, as we still have our old personal current account reg'd with them0 -
