And the point I missed was?
It's not about insurable interest but by Section 151 2 b) meaning if the driver is identified (They tend not to enforce the obtaining judgement) then the Insurers are liable irrespective of whether the driver is named on the policy or covered by the policy0 -
wait till june 8th for the flan to hit the fan big time when its going to get really nasty on test drives for consumers in the insurance stakes if hurdles and t's arent crossed prior to going up the road accompanied or unaccompanied,
So what are the changes from June 8th for test driving a car? The June 8th change is about doing away with the paper part of the new licence isn't it or is there something else?0 -
No, just that. And, of course, all groups are on the photocard, if that's what's being meant. AFAIA, there's no differences at all to insurance. So what are the changes from June 8th for test driving a car? But let's not let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory.0 -

Going to be the same as with hiring cars.
If the dealer's insurance prohibits drivers that have -say- been banned in the last 2 years, there isn't an easy way for them to check your recent licence history without the counterpart AFAIK.
I think it's going to need a one time code from the DVLA in advance.
I'm going to an event in July to test ride a few different bikes and the organisers have already said that even though the licence counterpart will have been abolished, you won't get to ride without it.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
How the bloody hell does the rest of the world cope...?0

I had a thought. If the insurance depends on the car being taxed and if it's not taxed then isn't the insurance void? Now, as the new tax system means that when you sell a car the tax ends and the new owner has to get it taxed, does that mean my insurance was void at the time of this incident or am I wishful thinking?0

What I love about these forums is people think they can argue a point and change the outcome
ROFL, The Insurance will decide who gets paid on what and thats that.
If the OP did not cancel it then the fat lady might be about to sing.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

Insurance has nothing to do with tax or MOT. Lack of either cannot result in voiding the insurance (although some insurers and cops will try to convince you differently)0
