Daily Telegraph Competitions - nuisance calls

I may be being paranoid but a few days ago I spent 30 mins. or so entering a number of competitions on the Daily Telegraph website. Now for the last day or two the mobile number I provided on the entry forms has been inundated by spam marketing calls. Like everyone else I got the odd one or two calls (and always blocked the numbers) but now I'm getting calls from a range of new numbers at a rate of about 1 per hour if not more.

Has anybody else ever noticed such a spike in these type of calls after entering DT competitions?

Not with the DT at all, I always make sure I tick/not tick the correct boxes for third parties etc...

It is possible that you have had your number sold onto a list of some sort, I sometimes get 3 calls within a few hours so I know that a 'list' has recently been sent out/bought.

If you have a smartphone, download a free call blocker from android/ios to block the call. I use Phone Warrior...

Oh yes, so often I recognise the numbers and block any new ones.

The DT is one of those annoying sites that switches their tickboxes so that sometimes it is tick to receive junk, and others it is tick to NOT receive junk.

ie. Don't just tick all the boxes because they all needed ticking on the previous comp.

Thanks One-eye I think you just confirmed my fears - DT making some money out of selling on details - nice one :money:

If texting, add NO INFO at end- I think thats the industry standard to opt out of marketing stuff..

If giving email address too, I would make up a false phone number, so no calls, and they can still get in contact, if really need to!
