cheapest ticket help required

Couldn't previously book tickets for personal reasons so now need to find cheapest tickets with less than two weeks to travel date.
Journey is from either Wallington Surrey or Chiswick to Dawlish Warren. Monday 25 May.
Return is Dawlish Warren to Wallington. Friday 29 May.
Two adults. No railcard although a two together card could be purchased if the savings warrant it.
Only criteria is not arriving too late at Dawlish, and really need to be back in Wallington by 5pm approx. Although this is a little flexible.
Train fares are making my eyes water, have tried splitting but it's not making any difference. Tried ticket split site which returned zero results.
Currently seems best option is train to London, mega bus to Exeter, train to Dawlish Warren. And same for return although the cheapest return arrives a bit late.
Any thoughts???.?

Not to worry, we searched and searched and found only eye watering fares.
So they've booked the mega bus option.0 -
Is that megabus bus or megabus train? The former can be very cheap but even the train I didn't consider 'eye-watering' which (please feel free to ignore my rant) has become a bit of a meaningless clich!.0

The eye watering train fares was.on southwest trains.
£174 return
£144.20 - £78 there and £66.20 for journey home.
That's for both of them. No rail card.
£30 for a two together rail card and the fares drop enough for it to pay for itself.
£114.80 return
£112.70 - £69 + £ 43.70.
The mega train wasn't too bad
£30 there and £42 return journey.
Coach was £18 there and £14 for return journey.
Once they add in their fares to and from London Victoria and the fares Exeter/Dawlish Warren Total is £62.
And don't forget if they had paid more and gone by mega train that wouldn't be the total cost as they'd need to include fare to Victoria and the exeter/dawlish tickets. Which is approx £30 so train total would be approx £1020
