Cheque book on a Basic Account ?

Are there any Basic Bank Accounts or Savings Accounts that offer a Cheque Book ?, I don't want a Cheque Card and I dont want to use a Cheque Book in Shops, but for Payments by post it would be great as Postal Orders are costing a Fortune !.
I have a Clydesdale Bank Readycash account which I am very happy with as it has a Maestro Card, but I dont know if they would give me a cheque book on the (No card etc), as due to my Debts I would certainly not qualify for a normall current account !, in fact I am really surprised I got that one !.

What type of payments are you making? If you give more details of these, people will be able to advise you how you could make them using BACS, your debit card or direct debit.
The Norwich and Peterborough Building Society give a cheque book on their basic account. However, there are usually other ways to pay. Give more details!0 -
Hi, No its not Bills as I can pay them online, its items bought from Ebay, many wont take Paypal or a Bank Transfer and want a Cheque or Postal Order.0

Hi
I would like to know the answer to this as well please.
I have just become an Usborne Book Representative and I don't think they take Solo Cards to submit orders so I might need a cheque book.

I have a cheque book with this account.
Apply for the Premier account online in the normal way, they will decline you and give you the plain current account with Electron card and cheque book. Or go into a branch and ask to apply for the plain current account.0
