New fence panels

Hi, we've just had a quote for installing fence panels along 2 sides of our gardens. The quote includes;
12 lap panels
14 wooden posts
Concrete
Labour
It will take 2 days max.
Been quoted £1150. Does this sound about right (i have no idea as not had anything remotely like this done before!)
Thanks

Difficult to say without knowing details, but as a very rough estimate :
12 panels at £20 each = £240 http://www.wickes.co.uk/Products/Gardens/Fencing/Fence-Panels/c/1000699#
14 posts at £10 each = £140 http://www.wickes.co.uk/search?text=fence posts
Concrete - 15 bags @ £4 each = £60
So your quote of £1150 means a labour charge of £710, which is £350 a day ( near as dammit ). If that's one bloke then I reckon it's a bit steep, if it's 2 then I reckon it's fairly reasonable ( £175 a day each ).
Obviously, the materials prices I've found are estimates, and retail - trade should be able to get them cheaper ( especially the concrete, I'd never buy 15 bags of ready-mix, far cheaper to buy the "ingredients" and mix it yourself, but it gives a ball-park figure ).
Hope this helps.0 -

I would suggest you are slightly off on your pricing. You are assuming 3" x 3" posts. 4" x 4" would be the norm. You suggest buying sand and cement seperately. Although cheaper, it is far more time consuming. Therefore its more cost effective to use rapid set 'postcrete' as this sets within 20 minutes. About £6.50 a bbag and 1 to 1.5 bags per post.
Also in trrms f trade prices, you're wrong. I'm a tradesman but can't get prices any better than these.
So the price is about right, but the OP needs more quotes.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I did a large fencing project when I purchased my last house two years ago,we needed 28 panels with concrete posts and kick boards, the quotes I received were in the main very similar £100 per panel,I hope that helps,we had quality panels for that and the job was done very well0

I was quoted for the following:
Height of 6ft
16x fence panels pre-treated
Concrete posts
Concrete gravel boards
Concrete

£1400 fitted.
