Old tax disc

A friend told me that it was illegal and I could be fined £1,000 if I continue to display the old vehicle tax disc after purchasing vehicle tax on line.


Is he correct?

I've still got my disc in the window, it acts as a reminder when the tax (and my Mot), is due.

That is exactly why I have kept mine. I don't trust DVLA to remind me.

Tax discs? Displayed in the car? All sound a bit retro to me!

I removed mine on 01 October, and use a diary to remind me when it is due.

I've got a car parked outside with a 2011 tax disc in it. It's perfectly legally being driven like that, and the disc is staying, just because...

Next time I go around to the near side, I may take it off

But it has got a bunch of handy numbers on the back, lease company, insurance, breakdown etc. with membership numbers etc. so I may just leave it forever.
And it annoys my brother that it's still there, another pro

I have now removed my tax disc holder but because there are useful numbers on the back I have stuck it to the owners handbook the I keep in the glove box

It'll take until November for everyone to get the message that there are no tax discs being issued any more.

Even then some won't believe it.
